Landscape Preference Evaluation of Old Residential Neighbourhoods: A Case Study in Shi Jiazhuang, Hebei Province, China

Landscape preference and cognition are essential in determining the external environment’s subjective reflections. Although much research has been conducted on landscape preferences, there is still a lack of information perceptions preferences among residents disadvantaged neighbourhoods, especially Chinese cities. Taking old residential neighbourhoods Shijiazhuang as an example, this paper used large-scale questionnaire survey semi-structured interviews to determine for community green spaces using virtual model method. The chi-square test method explore inner logic aesthetic from two aspects: characteristics socio-demographic characteristics. respondents 668 (300 males, 368 females) distributed four larger communities main urban area Shijiazhuang. Random sampling volunteer were choose respondents. results showed this: (1) In terms soft landscapes, prefer natural planting, with very high plant richness coverage. hard fitness leisure facilities, rubber floors slight water features decorative elements. (2) From results, age significantly affects preference, gender education level. contrast, marital status occupation have no significant effect preference. expression reflects needs functionality, reality local concept. aim study fully understand when space, find out what factors will affect residents’ preferences. guiding significance rationally improving planning, design management at same time make up international communities. Improving environment can develop higher sense security, happiness satisfaction residents.
